Studying the Bachelor of Business Accounting at Holmesglen

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years of age.<p>Applicants are required to have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course. Prior to enrollment, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment, which will assist in determining your suitability for the course.<p><strong>Applicants with recent secondary education (within the past two years)</strong><br>This course considers the ATAR as part of its selection process.<p><strong>Applicants with higher education study</strong><br>An applicant's entire academic record will be considered. Applicants are required to attend an interview and provide certified copies of relevant qualifications.
<strong>Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) study</strong><br>An applicant's entire academic record will be considered. Applicants are required to attend an interview and provide certified copies of relevant qualifications. Applicants who have successfully completed a Diploma of Accounting may be eligible for admission into the program with advanced standing, up to a maximum of 48 credit points. Advanced standing will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.<p><strong>Applicants with work and life experience</strong><br>Selection will be based on previous study and work experience.

Course Structure


<strong>Mode of study:</strong> Full-time, on campus face-to-face delivery.<strong><p>Daytime - Classes run Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, depending on units. </strong><p>All new students commencing in a higher education course must attend their Faculty Course Orientation and Holmesglen's Higher Education Orientation. <p>The course has 24 subjects. There are 21 core subjects and 3 elective subjects.<br>The course has a total of 144 credit points.

Qualification and Recognition

On successful completion of this program, you will be awarded the Bachelor of Business Accounting. This program meets the requirements for professional accounting accreditation with Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). Graduates may apply for associate membership of Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). Graduates of this degree also meet the academic entry requirements of the Chartered Accountants Australia New Zealand (CAANZ) Program. You are advised to refer to the appropriate professional association's website for further details regarding admission and membership requirements.

Student Services and Amenities Fee $351 Per Year

All local higher education students are required to pay a compulsory Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). This fee contributes to the cost of providing student support services including counselling, welfare services, learning support and other activities provided by the student support and wellbeing teams. The SSAF is charged each semester and the amount you pay depends on whether you’re a full time or part time student. The annual maximum amount is set by the Government and will vary according to your study load. Students studying on campus and online will be charged the same SSAF based on their study load. All local higher education students are required to pay this fee at the time of enrolment. Tuition Assurance Requirements

Under the Higher Education Support Act 2003, Holmesglen Institute must meet tuition assurance requirements for persons, other than overseas students, who are enrolled in the higher education courses we offer in the event we cease to provide a course of study in which a student is enrolled.
