This program is designed for managers and supervisors with responsibility for occupational health and safety in the workplace. It provides practical knowledge and skills to prevent workplace injuries and meet OHS/WHS compliance requirements. The course supports organisations in meeting regulatory obligations and improving safety culture. Group bookings of 10 or more can be arranged at your workplace or at selected Holmesglen campuses.

Studying the WHS course for Managers at Holmesglen

At Holmesglen, managers and supervisors gain practical, industry-relevant knowledge to effectively manage occupational health and safety responsibilities in the workplace. This course focuses on understanding OHS/WHS legislation, risk management principles, hazard control and incident investigation, supported by real-world examples and practical activities. Learning is delivered face-to-face by experienced trainers who provide clear guidance and support throughout the day. Participants leave with the confidence and skills to meet compliance requirements and contribute to safer, more productive workplaces.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years old and must attend the full course, provide photo ID (Driver’s Licence, Learner Permit, Student ID card or Passport), and bring a pen and paper.

<strong>Course delivery</strong><br>This course is delivered over one full day and uses a blend of face-to-face theory and practical training activities.<p><strong>What you will learn</strong><br>In this course, you will learn how to:<br>• Apply knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety legislative framework, Compliance Codes and AS/NZS/ISO Standards in the workplace<br>• Describe the roles and responsibilities of employers and employees in OHS/WHS, including applying the principle of reasonably practicable<br>• Identify, assess and control workplace hazards using risk management principles<br>• Understand consultative structures, issue resolution processes and the role and powers of WorkSafe inspectors<br>• Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, apply risk assessment and risk control measures, and use leading and lagging indicators
