The Bachelor of Information Systems at Holmesglen develops the technical, analytical and business skills needed to design, develop and manage information systems and digital solutions for modern organisations. You'll explore how technology supports business transformation, data-driven decision-making and the integration of people, processes, systems and information.<p><p>Choose from three industry-aligned specialisation streams to tailor your studies to your interests and career goals:<br>• Data Analytics – develop skills in analysing and interpreting data to generate insights and support business decision-making. <br>• Software Development – build skills in designing, developing and implementing software and digital solutions. <br>• General – develop broad knowledge across business systems, data, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure. </p><p><p>Through practical and project-based learning, you'll apply your knowledge to realistic business and technology scenarios, developing skills relevant to careers across information systems, data analytics, software development and the broader technology sector. <p/>

Studying the Bachelor of Information Systems at Holmesglen

Study the Bachelor of Information Systems at Holmesglen's <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/about-us/campuses/chadstone">Chadstone campus</a>, where you'll learn in specialist computer laboratories designed to support practical learning across networking, cloud computing, cybersecurity, software development and data analytics.<p>You'll gain hands-on experience with professional technologies and platforms such as Cisco NetAcad, AWS, VMware, Tableau, Splunk and Oracle. You'll learn in small, supportive classes with experienced Holmesglen teachers who bring industry knowledge into the classroom, while practical activities, laboratory work and industry-focused projects help you apply your technical knowledge and develop problem-solving and collaboration skills.<p>A key part of the degree is work-integrated learning. In your final year, you'll complete a capstone project with an industry client, applying your knowledge to a real organisational challenge while developing your professional portfolio and industry connections.<p>Your studies are supported through <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/current-students/course-resources/it-help-and-online-tools#accordion-a099c8bf38-item-2b760ff310">Brightspace</a>, providing access to learning materials, assessments and digital resources, along with Holmesglen's <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/current-students/library">library services</a>.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry into the Bachelor of Information Systems, international applicants must meet the following requirements:<p><strong>Age Requirement</strong><p>• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of the course.<p><strong>English Language Proficiency Requirements</strong><p>To meet the English language proficiency requirements of this course, you will need to demonstrate the following:<p>• IELTS overall score of 6.0 (Academic) or <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/study-with-us/international-student-study/how-to-apply-international-students/English-requirements-for-international-students">equivalent English language Tests</a><p><strong>Academic Requirements</strong><p>• Successful completion of VCE Year 12, or overseas equivalent. Applicants can access information on whether their overseas qualification is equivalent to the VCE Year 12 at <a href="https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/assessment/results/applying-credit-and-recognition/equivalent-qualifications/assessment-overseas-qualification-vce-equivalence-year-12">Assessment of overseas qualification for VCE equivalence - Year 12 - Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority</a>.<p>Applicants may also be considered on the basis of:<p>• Completion of an Australian Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; or<p>• Partial or completed higher education study at a recognised university or non university higher education provider.<p>All applications are assessed on an individual basis in accordance with Holmesglen’s admissions policies.<p>Graduates of the Diploma of Information Technology (Advanced Programming & Back End Web Development) at Holmesglen may be eligible to receive credit towards the first year of the Bachelor of Information Systems, subject to the Holmesglen’s credit and recognition of prior learning policies.<p><strong>Important Dates for Your Studies</strong><br>Stay informed about important academic dates throughout your course, including teaching periods, holidays and key deadlines. Assessment

A variety of assessment methods are used, including technical reports, laboratory reports, network design models, practical strategy assessments, written assignments, literature reviews, practical case studies, group projects, individual and group presentations, online quizzes, practical labs, exams, research reports, feasibility reports and classroom hurdle tasks. Qualification and Recognition

On completion of this program, you will be awarded the Bachelor of Information Systems. The Bachelor of Information Systems is professionally accredited with the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
