Studying the Bachelor of Information Systems at Holmesglen

Based at our <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/about-us/campuses/chadstone">Chadstone campus</a>, the Bachelor of Information Systems provides a practical and industry-focused learning experience across networking, programming, cyber security, cloud computing, software development, data analytics, and business systems.<p>Students learn in specialist computer laboratories designed to replicate real IT industry environments, with access to cloud, software development, cyber operations, and data analytics applications used throughout the course.<p>Students gain hands-on experience using industry-standard technologies and platforms including AWS, VMware, Cisco NetAcad, Packet Tracer, Tableau, Splunk, Oracle, MySQL, Visual Studio, Wireshark, Kali Linux, and Microsoft 365 applications.<p>The Bachelor of Information Systems is professionally accredited with the <a href="https://www.acs.org.au/">Australian Computer Society (ACS)</a>.<p>Digital course delivery is supported through Holmesglen’s <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/current-students/course-resources/it-help-and-online-tools#accordion-a099c8bf38-item-2b760ff310">Brightspace learning management system</a>, providing access to learning resources, assessments, collaboration tools, and online learning activities.<p>Students also have access to <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/current-students/library">library services</a>, digital learning resources, wireless campus networks, Webex collaboration tools, and cloud-based learning platforms that support practical learning and digital literacy development relevant to modern technology workplaces.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for entry into the Bachelor of Information Systems, international applicants must meet the following requirements:<p><strong>Age Requirement</strong><br>• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of the course.<p><strong>English Language Requirements</strong><br>• English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS Academic 6.0 (no band less than 6.0) or an accepted equivalent.<br>For English language tests and equivalents, refer to the <a href="https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility">Australian Government Department of Home Affairs</a><p><strong>Academic Requirements</strong><br>Good passes at Year 12 or the overseas equivalent. Applicants may also be considered on the basis of:<br>• Completion of an Australian Diploma or Advanced Diploma (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; or<br>• Partial or completed higher education study at a recognised university or non university higher education provider.<p>All applications are assessed on an individual basis in accordance with Holmesglen’s admissions policies.<p>Holmesglen graduates of Diploma of Information Technology (Advanced Programming & Back End Web Development) at Holmesglen may be eligible to receive credit towards the first year of the Bachelor of Information Systems, subject to the Holmesglen’s credit and recognition of prior learning policies.

Assessment

A variety of assessment methods are used, including technical reports, laboratory reports, network design models, practical strategy assessments, written assignments, literature reviews, practical case studies, group projects, individual and group presentations, online quizzes, practical labs, exams, research reports, feasibility reports and classroom hurdle tasks.
