Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support, learners must:<br>• Be 18 years of age or older at the commencement of the course <br>• Be able to participate in the required practical placement <br>• Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) before undertaking placement
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

<strong>Course delivery</strong><br>Learners participate in 3 days of structured learning per week, combining:<br>• Face-to-face classes <br>• Supervised online learning <br>• Practical placement <br>Classes are generally scheduled from 9.00 am to 3.30 pm.<p><strong>Practical placement</strong><br>To successfully complete the qualification, learners must complete all required coursework and 120 hours of practical placement in a Victorian primary or secondary school. Placement is undertaken 2–3 days per week during Term 3 of the course.<p><strong>Training and assessment</strong><br>Course content is delivered and assessed through a combination of clustered and standalone units. Simulations and scenarios may also be used where the full range of required situations cannot be provided in the workplace or occurs only rarely.
