Entry Requirements

Participants must be secondary students enrolled in Year 10, 11 or 12 completing VCE or VCE VM.<p>Learners should:<br>• Have a good level of fitness for outdoor work<br>• Be able to carry equipment for assessments in the potting shed, greenhouse or grounds<br>• Safely operate basic machinery such as lawn mowers while following WHS procedures<br>• Enjoy hands-on practical work with plants, machinery and turf<br>• Thrive in outdoor, experiential learning environments<p>There are no formal entry requirements or prerequisites for this course.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Classes for the AHC21624 Certificate II in Landscaping are delivered on campus every Wednesday afternoon from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. These weekly sessions are hands-on and take place in Holmesglen's simulated landscaping environment, giving you the opportunity to build practical skills in a safe, structured setting.<p>In addition to your weekly face-to-face class, you will be expected to complete approximately 2.5 hours of independent study each week. This includes completing assessment tasks, engaging with online learning materials via Brightspace (Holmesglen's Learning Management System), and revising content to consolidate your skills and knowledge.<p>This flexible structure ensures you have the time and support to develop your landscaping abilities while balancing your secondary school commitments.
