Studying the Certificate III in Parks and Gardens at Holmesglen

Throughout this course you will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to work in the management and maintenance of public and private parks, reserves and gardens, natural bushland and community recreation areas.<p>You will gain skills in the design and implementation of special plant displays and be able to give advice on plant selection and use in domestic and commercial situations.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must:<br>- Be at least 16 years old<br>- Meet the physical requirements of the assessment, which may include:<br> - Maneuvering machinery and equipment<br> - Lifting and carrying materials<br> - Digging<br>If starting the course as a non-apprentice, actively seek an apprenticeship to practice and consolidate skills on the job.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
