The SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management is designed for experienced cooks ready to progress into kitchen leadership and management roles. Building on skills developed through the <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/explore-courses/hospitality-tourism-and-events/cookery/vocational-education/certificate-iii-in-commercial-cookery-non-apprenticeship">SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery</a>, you'll develop the skills to coordinate kitchen operations, lead teams and apply your cookery expertise in a management environment.<p><p>This six-month course has a strong focus on <strong>kitchen management and leadership</strong>, combining theory with practical components to prepare you for the responsibilities of managing a commercial kitchen.</p><p><p>You'll also have the opportunity to participate in an excursion to Holmesglen's <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/about-us/campuses/eildon">Eildon campus</a>. On completion, you'll be prepared for kitchen management opportunities in <strong>restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafés and catering organisations</strong>.</p>

<p>Study the <strong>SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management</strong> at Holmesglen's <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/about-us/campuses/glen-waverley">Glen Waverley campus</a> through a blend of <strong>online, classroom and practical training</strong> in Holmesglen's modern commercial kitchens.</p> <p><p>You'll build on your cookery experience while developing practical management skills in <strong>kitchen leadership, financial management, cost control, sustainability, work health and safety (WH&S), conflict and diversity</strong>. You'll also develop knowledge of special dietary requirements to help manage changing nutritional needs.</p> <p><p>Holmesglen supports your transition into employment with <strong>CV writing and interview workshops</strong>. The course can support progression into kitchen leadership roles across restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafés, aged care and health care facilities, while also building skills relevant to running your own business.</p>

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, learners must be at least 16 years old and have completed the SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.<p>As part of Holmesglen's delivery model, the SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management is designed for learners progressing from the Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.<p>Learners must also:<p>Complete a BKSB language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment, or provide evidence of an equivalent assessment, achieving English and Maths Level 3<br>Complete a pre-training review with a Student Recruitment Admissions Officer to assess course suitability and recommend an appropriate outcome<br>Attend a pre-training review with the Education Manager if further assessment of suitability is required

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <strong>Delivery</strong><br>This full-time, campus-based course is delivered over six months, with classes held four days per week.<p>Learners may be eligible to receive credit for the core units completed in the SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery. Credits for elective units completed in the Certificate III may also be granted on a case-by-case basis.

Additional Course Cost

The indicative additional course costs for this course are $900. <br>This is for items including, but not limited to: <br>• extra activities ‘Paddock to plate’ excursion (optional) - $350 <br>Learners will be required to provide their own uniform and knife kit. Some employers may purchase this on behalf of the learner. If they do not provide this, learners are able to purchase a uniform and knife kit from a Holmesglen supplier: <br>• cooks uniform including checkered pants, white jacket and non-slip enclosed toe shoes - from $270 <br>• toolkit comprised and knife set - from $370
