Course Overview

The HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) course at Holmesglen provides the practical skills and knowledge needed to recognise and respond to a medical emergency and perform CPR. Delivered over four hours, the course has a particular focus on people working in civil construction, electricity distribution and other infrastructure industries, while following current Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.<p><p>Through practical CPR training, you'll learn to recognise unconsciousness and abnormal breathing, perform CPR on adults and infants, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), respond appropriately in an emergency and communicate incident details to emergency services. The course also covers first aid treatment and relevant legal considerations, with practical assessment providing opportunities to demonstrate the required CPR techniques and emergency response skills.</p>

Holmesglen<p>You'll learn with experienced Holmesglen trainers in a supportive, practical environment, with opportunities to practise CPR techniques and emergency response procedures before demonstrating the required skills during assessment.<p>The four-hour face-to-face format keeps the training focused and practical, allowing you to develop and demonstrate the CPR skills required for workplace and community emergency situations.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for this course, participants must:<br>• Be at least 16 years old<br>• Have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 2 minutes on an adult and infant<br>• Meet Language Literacy Numeracy entry levels
Prior to enrolment you will be required to complete a pre-training review and may be asked to complete a language, literacy and numeracy test. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
