Studying the Bachelor of Fashion Design at Holmesglen

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years old at the start of the course and hold a minimum qualification of VCE/HSC or an equivalent for entry.<p>All applicants are required to attend an interview to present a few images of their creative work/s. This serves as an opportunity to assess the applicants' skill level, interest, creativity, and ability to apply the design process at the undergraduate level.<p><strong> Applicants should meet the selection requirements of the relevant category as detailed below.</strong><p><strong>Applicants with recent secondary education (within the past two years) should meet the following selection requirements</strong><p> - ATAR<br> - Portfolio and interview<p><strong>Applicants with higher education study</strong><br>Applicants who have started or completed an award course at any Australian university are eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Fashion Design course.<p><strong>Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) study</strong><br>Applicants who have successfully completed MST20616 Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology and/or MST40516 Certificate IV in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising, or an equivalent qualification, are eligible for admission into the Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD16) course without advanced standing.<p>Applicants who have completed a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a fashion qualification or an equivalent qualification, may be eligible for advanced standing in some subjects.<p>Applicants who have completed the MST40222 Certificate IV in Apparel and Fashion with Holmesglen will be eligible for direct admission into the Bachelor of Fashion (BFD23)
<strong>Applicants with work and life experience</strong><br>Applicants without prior higher education or VET study, who are non-senior secondary applicants, may be eligible for admission if they can demonstrate their ability through previous study and/or a minimum of five years' work experience in the fashion/textiles industry or a related occupation.<p>It is recommended that applicants have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course. Applicants will attend an interview with staff members who consider previous levels of achievement, resumes, and employment records as indicators of aptitude and commitment to the study of fashion at the undergraduate level.

Advanced standing

<strong>Mode of study:</strong> <br>Full-time<p><strong>Monday to Thursday 9am-4pm</strong><p>All new students commencing a higher education course must attend their Faculty Course Orientation and Holmesglen's Education Orientation. <p><br>The course has 24 subjects. There are 23 core subjects and 1 elective subject.<br>The course has a total of 144 credit points.

All local higher education students are required to pay a compulsory Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). This fee contributes to the cost of providing student support services including counselling, welfare services, learning support and other activities provided by the student support and wellbeing teams. The SSAF is charged each semester and the amount you pay depends on whether you’re a full time or part time student. The annual maximum amount is set by the Government and will vary according to your study load. Students studying on campus and online will be charged the same SSAF based on their study load. All local higher education students are required to pay this fee at the time of enrolment. Tuition Assurance Requirements

Under the Higher Education Support Act 2003, Holmesglen Institute must meet tuition assurance requirements for persons, other than overseas students, who are enrolled in the higher education courses we offer in the event we cease to provide a course of study in which a student is enrolled.
