The 22614VIC Certificate II in Building and Construction Pre-Apprenticeship at Holmesglen is a two-year, part-time course designed for senior secondary students pursuing VCE or VCE Vocational Major. This program introduces students to essential carpentry skills, providing a pathway towards apprenticeships and careers in the building industry. In the first year, students focus on foundational skills, including safe use of tools, workplace health, and industry standards. Hands-on projects, such as creating a stool and a cutting board, build practical expertise under the guidance of industry-experienced teachers in well-equipped facilities. In the second year, students work on advanced projects, including constructing wall frames and cladding, gaining confidence with complex tasks like building a cubby house. This structured, practical approach provides a solid foundation for success in the construction industry.<p>This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students (previously VETiS) course and can only be completed as part of your VCE/VCE(VM) program.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
