Studying the Certificate III in Carpentry at Holmesglen
Studying at Holmesglen offers a comprehensive, hands-on learning experience that blends practical training with theoretical knowledge. The program is delivered through block training sessions, where students participate in on-campus activities and workplace learning, allowing them to progressively build their skills. Supportive teachers provide guidance throughout the course, ensuring learners have the resources they need to succeed. Holmesglen’s Learning Management System, Brightspace, offers additional learning resources and assessments, fostering continuous engagement and development. This approach, which combines both digital and face-to-face learning, allows students to practise their skills during unsupervised hours, reinforcing their knowledge and readiness for professional practice. With ongoing support and a focus on real-world application, Holmesglen ensures students are well-prepared for their apprenticeships.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicants must be at least 16 years old<p>As this is an apprenticeship delivery, all students must have an employer and a valid Apprenticeship Contract in place prior to commencement.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.
Recognition of prior learning
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Course Structure
Timetable
Classes run 8.15am - 3.45pm with time provided to access any learning support required by individual students.<br>Apprentices study on campus 5 times per year in blocks of 3 days. Each block runs either Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday.
Assessment
Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
How to apply
Apprenticeship
A training contract must be completed by the employer and apprentice within the first two weeks of employment. <br>An Australian Apprenticeship Support Network representative will visit the workplace to complete the training contract with the employer and the apprentice.<br><a href="https://www.australianapprenticeships.gov.au">Visit australianapprenticeships.gov.au </a>for more information.

Holmesglen may engage third parties to recruit students on behalf of the institute. Third party recruiters receive a commission and this will not impact on your fees.

Students will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking practical activities and attending site visits. The personal protective equipment and course materials students will be required to supply are:

<br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
