Holmesglen is currently the only TAFE delivering this unit as part of Free TAFE. It provides essential safety training for rooftop solar installations, including PV panels and battery systems. Entry Requirements

To be eligible, learners must be at least 18 years old at the commencement of the course.
Prior to enrolment you will be required to complete a pre-training review and may be asked to complete a language, literacy and numeracy test. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <strong>Duration</strong><br>The total nominal duration is 64 hours, with 49 hours of face-to-face classes. Participants must demonstrate competency in all five units to successfully complete the course.<p><strong>Delivery and Assessment</strong><br>The program combines face-to-face instruction, online learning, and practical sessions in simulated rooftop environments for comprehensive training. Assessment methods include written tests, practical demonstrations, and scenario-based evaluations.<p>The course covers five core units that provide both theoretical and practical knowledge for working safely on rooftops, especially in renewable energy installations.<br>• VU23631 Work safely on roofs with renewable energy systems: Focuses on identifying and managing risks specific to renewable energy installations, like solar PV panels and battery systems.<br>• CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies, and procedures in the construction industry: Ensures participants understand and follow general workplace safety standards.<br>• CPCCCM2012 Work safely at heights: Teaches the skills needed to safely operate at elevated locations.<br>• CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (White Card): A mandatory prerequisite for working in the Australian construction industry.<br>• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid: Provides essential first aid skills for handling workplace incidents.

Additional Course Cost

The required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) students will need to supply: <br>- Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) <br>- Safety pants <br>- Safety glasses <br>- work shirt (waist length jacket if cold) <br> Total costs for PPE is approximately $200-$250 (depending on brands) <br> <br>There are no other additional course costs other than the enrolment fee.
