Overview

The Retrofit Insulation Installer Skill Set contains four units of competency serving as prerequisites for individuals seeking to become Certified Insulation Installers under the Energy Efficiency Council guidelines. <p>Certification additionally requires completion of the non‑accredited unit EEC001 Prepare for insulation retrofitting within ceiling spaces, along with the following requirements:<p>* Have a General Construction Induction Certificate – this is known as a White Card in some states<p>* Have a Certificate of Currency for Public Liability Insurance. This needs to show coverage for $5 million+. If the candidate is a sole trader working under an ABN, then a certificate under their name will be required. If the candidate is working for a business, proof of employment (i.e. letter from employer) and business public liability insurance will need to be provided.

Career Opportunities

  • Upon completion of this skill set, including the non accredited unit EEC001 Prepare for insulation retrofitting within ceiling spaces, learners have the ability to apply to become a Certified Insulation Installer with the Energy Efficiency Council.

Entry Requirements

All applicants must be currently employed in the wall and ceiling industry or in another trade. They are also required to be seeking certification as insulation installers and must enrol in the non‑accredited unit EEC001 Prepare for insulation retrofitting within ceiling spaces.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. The Retrofit Insulation Installer Skill Set is delivered through a blended model that combines online and on‑campus training, delivered as follows:<p>Week 1: 1 day on campus 1/12/2025 (8.15am-3.45pm) <br> plus 2 days online 2,3/12/2025 (6pm - 8pm)<p>Week 2: 2 days online 8,9/12/2025 (6pm - 8pm)<br> <br>Week 3: 1 day on campus at Drummond Street 11/12/2025 (8.15am-3.45pm)<br> <br>Week 4: 1 day on campus 17/12/2025 (8.15am-12pm)<br> Non accredited unit EEC001 1pm - 5pm

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.
