Entry Requirements

To be eligible, learners must be at least 22 years old, have a minimum of three years of practical experience in the tiling industry and be currently employed in the trade.<p>During the recruitment process, applicants are required to submit a current resume including employer references or provide evidence of self-employment in the industry.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

The CPC31320 Certificate III in Wall and Floor Tiling is delivered over one year via a blended learning model, featuring two evenings per week and every second Saturday on campus, complemented by eight onsite trainer visits. This structure supports non apprentice individuals currently employed in the wall and floor tiling industry, allowing them to attain a formal qualification while balancing work commitments.<p><strong>Stage One:</strong> The first stage of the program offers an accelerated learning pathway that formalises existing skills by focusing on the assessment of prior knowledge. Units covering workplace communication, measurements and calculations, sustainable practices, planning and organising can be completed more efficiently due to existing hands-on industry experience.<p><strong>Stage Two:</strong> The second stage further formalises core tiling skills through the completion of essential trade units covering the use of tiling tools and equipment, surface preparation, waterproofing applications and the installation of floor and wall tiles.<p><strong>Stage Three:</strong> In the final stage, progression is made to advanced and specialist units, including installing mosaic tiling, tiling curved surfaces, tiling pools and spas and installing decorative tiling.

Additional Course Cost

Students will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking practical activities and attending site visits. The personal protective equipment and course materials students will be required to supply are: <br>Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) Safety pants <br>Work shirt Safety glasses <br>Safety gloves (when handling building materials) Earmuffs/ear plugs for ear protection <br>Dust respirator to P2/P3 standard <br>Hat and sunscreen for sun protection Fold-out ruler Notebook, HB Pencil, blue or black pen, eraser <br>BYO Device-Laptop $400 <br>The total cost of these items is between $800 - $900 <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
