The Retrofit Insulation Installer Skill Set provides the foundational skills needed to work safely and effectively in residential insulation retrofitting. This industry-aligned program covers four units required under Energy Efficiency Council guidelines, building practical capability in safe installation, compliance and energy-efficient work methods. To progress toward certification, learners must also complete the <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/explore-courses/building-and-construction/plastering-and-tiling/others/eec001-prepare-for-insulation-retrofitting-within-ceiling-spaces" target="_blank">non-accredited unit EEC001 Prepare for insulation retrofitting within ceiling spaces</a>, hold a General Construction Induction (White Card) and provide Public Liability Insurance. The skill set supports pathways into certified insulation installer roles within Australia’s growing energy-efficiency sector.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this skill set, learners must:<br>• Be currently working in the wall and ceiling industry or another trade<br>• Be aiming to become a certified insulation installer<br>• Enrol in the non-accredited unit EEC001 Prepare for insulation retrofitting within ceiling spaces<br>• Hold a General Construction Induction (White Card)<br>• Have Public Liability Insurance with at least $5 million coverage<br>If you are a sole trader, the insurance must be in your own name under your ABN. If you work for a business, you must provide proof of employment and the business’s insurance.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
