Studying the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping at Holmesglen

The Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping will prepare you for different jobs in the Australian financial services industry. <p>Through this certificate, you’ll learn a range of accounting skills. This will include how to prepare financial reports, set up and operate a computerised accounting system, complete business activity and instalment activity statements (BAS) and establish and maintain a payroll system. <p>You’ll also learn how to be agile and adaptive to ongoing changes in the financial services industry. This course is also your stepping stone to becoming an assistant accountant, account clerk, bookkeeper or BAS agent.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years of age.<p>It is recommended that students have at least:<br>FNS30322 Certificate III in Accounts administration<br>VCE (ATAR) or Year 11 with good skills in Mathematics<p>The language, literacy and numeracy levels required for this course are based on the ACSF:<br>Language: Level 3 working at Level 4<br>Numeracy: Level 3 working at Level 4<br>Students who, through the PTR/BKSB, have lower than the required LLN levels stated above, but are still considered able to undertake the program with support, are referred to the Learning Skills Centre.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Timetable

Remote delivery – 3 x 3-hour classes per week <br>Students can choose 3 evenings from - Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays from 6pm to 9pm<br>Students can choose 3 daytime classes from - Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays or Friday 9 am to 4pm.<p>To receive this qualification, you must complete 13 units in total, comprising of 10 core units and 3 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.

Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.<p>As per The Tax Practitioner Board requirement, some assessments must be completed under supervision on campus.
