Studying the Certificate II in Small Business Operations and Innovation at Holmesglen

At Holmesglen, VCE and VCE VM students gain practical, real-world experience in developing and running a small business. This VETDSS course focuses on building employability and business skills, including planning, marketing, research, event coordination, financial processes and social media collaboration. Students also explore innovation by researching and applying creative approaches to small business operations.<p>Learning is hands-on and supported by experienced educators who guide students through each stage of the course. Holmesglen works closely with secondary schools to ensure students feel supported throughout their studies, helping them build confidence, teamwork and practical skills that support future pathways into further study, employment or entrepreneurship.

Entry Requirements

Students must remain enrolled with their high school or secondary school for the full duration of this VETDSS program.<p>The student’s school is required to have an authorised representative complete and sign a Standard VET Purchasing Contract with Holmesglen. This contract must include the student’s full name and be accompanied by an application form containing relevant student details, including support needs, behaviour needs, address, phone number and date of birth.
The school spends time with students, going over a pre-training review, establishing if this course is a suitable pathway for each student who is enrolled

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
