The Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51319) at Holmesglen equips you with the skills to manage WHS risks, use risk management tools, and lead incident investigations. You’ll also learn to develop workplace policies and procedures for sustainability and environmental practices.<p>Learn from experienced teachers with real-world knowledge and gain practical, hands-on experience through interactive activities. Our students benefit from comprehensive support throughout their studies to ensure success. This course covers standards such as ISO 45001, AS/NZS 4801, AS/NZS 9001, and AS/NZS 14001, including the BSBWHS512 unit on psychological health and safety. Graduates develop strong management and leadership skills and are prepared for careers as WHS Manager, Safety Advisor, or Compliance Officer.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 18 years old and meet one of the following criteria:<p><strong>Option A:</strong><br>• Graduated from all core units of the BSB41419 Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.<p><strong>Option B:</strong><br>Completed equivalent unit competencies for the following:<br>• BSBWHS412: Assist with workplace compliance with WHS laws<br>• BSBWHS413: Contribute to implementation and maintenance of WHS consultation and participation processes<br>• BSBWHS414: Contribute to WHS risk management<br>• BSBWHS415: Contribute to implementing WHS management systems<br>• BSBWHS416: Contribute to workplace incident response
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, apprentices will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining suitability of the course, verify the training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

<strong>Students typically attend one evening a week. Evening classes run every Tuesday night from 6pm to 9pm. Classes won’t run in a week with a public holiday.</strong><p>To receive this qualification, you must complete 10units in total, comprising of 5 core units and 5 elective units. Elective units have been chosen by Holmesglen based on feedback from industry and staff qualifications.<p>If the learner has already completed other eligible elective units, these will be counted towards completion of this program.
