This two-year program is designed for secondary school learners undertaking VET studies as part of their school enrolment. Learners will complete the Certificate III in Information Technology qualification and have the option of undertaking a Scored Assessment. The course is hands-on, beginner-friendly, and structured to introduce students to professional IT skills and tools while having fun creating games and game art.
In the first year, students learn to manage personally identifiable information (PII) and create 3D models using industry-standard software such as Autodesk Maya, Adobe Photoshop, and Substance Painter. They develop original 3D game art and animations and showcase their work in a video game using a game engine.
In the second year, learners expand their skills with foundational programming and IT support. They learn to install and optimise operating systems, provide system administration, create backups, maintain and repair hardware and software, and install, configure, and secure a small office network. Over five subjects, students gain practical experience, supported by experienced teachers, and are prepared for the VCE examination and future IT and game development careers.
You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
