Studying the Certificate I in General Education for Adults at Holmesglen

Switch is a re-engagement program for learners who are looking to thrive in a different learning environment to that of traditional schooling.
Switch is a flexible program with small class numbers, focusing on employment and education pathways. It is tailored to individual students, with a youth worker integrated into the program to help support the individual progress of students. A counsellor also oversees the department in which Switch is delivered.
Students gain a greater sense of belonging, feel safe, have fun and learn more about themselves, while being introduced to more opportunities.
If your attendance was not great at your current school during 2023, this change in environment could be what you need to get your education back on track, operating alongside your school calendar, but attending Holmesglen Glen Waverley campus instead of your school (e.g. an alternative to Year 10, in 2024).

Entry Requirements

Students must be at least 15 years old and enrolled in school at the time of commencement.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs. They will also give the department and teachers an indication of your strengths and weaknesses, so we can better cater to your needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Read more about Recognition of Prior Learning, Credits and Advanced Standing.
