Entry Requirements

• Entry is intended for learners with evidence of a permanent cognitive impairment and/or intellectual disability<br>• Learners are typically 16–30 years of age<br>• Entry is restricted to post-compulsory, school-aged learners<br>• Learners may present with multiple and complex learning needs, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, or a combination of both<br>• Learners may have experienced difficulty achieving functional literacy and numeracy standards<p>The following conditions on their own do not constitute a permanent cognitive impairment and/or intellectual disability:<br>• Social and/or emotional issues<br>• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)<br>• Specific learning difficulties<br>• Mental health conditions<br>• Physical disabilities
The 22694VIC Certificate I in Initial Adult Literacy and Numeracy has no prerequisite language, literacy and numeracy requirements to undertake this course, however, the outcomes of this course are consistent with AQF level 1 in terms of reading, writing and communication skills.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. This qualification is delivered over 32 weeks, with two days of face-to-face study per week from 9.30am to 3.30pm (excluding lunch), totalling 320 hours.
