Studying the Victorian Pathways Certificate at Holmesglen

The Victorian Pathways Certificate is suitable for students whose previous schooling experience may have been disrupted for a variety of reasons, including students with additional needs, students who have missed significant periods of learning and vulnerable students at risk of disengaging from their education. Students will gain the skills, knowledge, values and capabilities to make informed choices about pathways into entry level vocational education and training (VET) course or employment.<p>You will take part in practical studies and complete projects based on real-world situations. Your classes will be adapted to suit your interests, abilities and strengths. The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is an inclusive Year 11 and 12 standards-based certificate. It provides an enriched curriculum and excellent support for students to develop the skills, capabilities and qualities for success in personal and civic life.<p>The VPC is an accredited foundation secondary qualification under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006. It aligns to Level 1 in the Australian Qualifications Framework.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for VPC studies. However, students are required to attend an interview with a parent or carer to determine their suitability for the course. Students must be 16–19 years old and have additional learning support needs or a letter of recommendation from a doctor or allied health professional.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Read more about Recognition of Prior Learning, Credits and Advanced Standing.
