Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however, to undertake this program, you must be enrolled in the <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/explore-courses/english-education-and-teacher-training/vce/vocational-education/vce-victorian-certificate-of-education-trades-academy">VCE - Victorian Certificate of Education Trades Academy</a> at Holmesglen.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability for the course and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Course Structure

Timetable

The CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways is delivered over one year, divided into two semesters, with classes held one day a week on Thursdays for 7 hours. The program combines face-to-face theoretical lessons with practical training, providing hands-on experience in a simulated workshop environment.<p><strong>Semester One – Foundational Skills</strong><br>Focus is on core units covering construction safety, workplace compliance, and correct use of tools and equipment. Learners apply these skills to bricklaying and tiling projects, gaining practical experience in a controlled workshop setting.<p><strong>Semester Two – Carpentry and Trade Exploration</strong><br>Building on the first semester, learners undertake a basic carpentry project while exploring additional trades such as painting and decorating, providing a well-rounded understanding of multiple construction pathways

Additional Course Cost

Students will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when undertaking practical activities and attending site visits. The personal protective equipment and course materials students will be required to supply are: <br>Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) Safety pants <br>Work shirt Safety glasses <br>Ear protection AS1270 (Earmuffs) Hat for sun protection <br>Sunscreen (if exposed to sunlight) <br>Safety Gloves (if handling building materials) Fold out ruler, Notebook, HB Pencil, Biro, eraser <br>BYO Device-Laptop $400 <br>The total cost of these items is between $650 - $750 <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
