Entry Requirements

To be eligible, students must be at least 16 years of age.<p>Prospective learners should also have the physical capacity to be able to successfully undertake fieldwork where they may be required to carry light equipment as part of class work and assessments on field trip days. Full time and part time learners should make themselves available for the week long camp.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Assessment

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

Traineeship

The required personal protective equipment learners need to supply is <br>Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) Safety pants <br>Work shirt (waist length jacket, if cold) Safety glasses Ear protection <br>Hat for sun protection <br>Sunscreen (if exposed to sunlight) <br>Safety gloves (if handling building materials) Note pad / Biro The total cost of these items is between $250 - $300. <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
