Entry Requirements

To enrol in the AHC20422 Certificate II in Horticulture, learners must be currently enrolled as a Year 10-12 secondary school student. <br>The secondary school determines the suitability of all learners to undertake this course.
Before commencing the course, the secondary school coordinator confirms that learners possess the foundational skills required to succeed in a practical, hands-on learning environment. These skills include the ability to follow multi-step instructions, interpret safety signs and labels, understand basic measurement and volume for mixing chemicals or preparing soil, and read simple plans or instructions for landscape projects. Learners are also expected to work cooperatively in teams, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly in both spoken and written formats.<p>Given the physical nature of horticulture work, it is also important that learners are capable of participating in practical outdoor activities in varying weather conditions.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <strong>Class schedule</strong><br>Classes for the AHC20422 Certificate II in Horticulture are held on campus every Wednesday afternoon from 1.00pm to 5.00pm.<p>In addition to on-campus classes, learners are required to complete approximately 2.5 hours per week of online learning activities and independent study.<p>This blended structure supports skill development by reinforcing classroom learning through self-directed study and practice.
