Studying the Certificate III in Landscape Construction at Holmesglen

Holmesglen's qualified and experienced teachers will assist you to achieve the skills you need to advance your career in landscaping.<p>This course provides you with the necessary skills and knowledge that, when combined with workplace enhancement skills, will enable you to perform the work of a landscape gardening constructor.<p>Roles in the industry can be varied and include, construction and maintenance of domestic and commercial landscapes, or the construction and installation of amenity and recreational landscape structures.<p>You may also undertake the design of gardens and commercial landscapes, or provide technical advice and forward estimates on landscape development proposals.<p>Employers in this industry include individual landscapers, landscaping companies and public bodies, such as local councils.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible, learners must be at least 22 years of age and have a minimum of 4 years of work experience. <br>A fair amount of strength and physical fitness is required in order to participate in the construction work required.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Timetable

Classes run 1 evening per week, between 4pm to 8pm, with specific days varying per intake.<p>Please note that the timetable is subject to change.<p>To receive this qualification you must complete 17 Units of Competency - 10 core units and 7 elective units. Elective units have been chosen based on industry feedback.

Required personal protective equipment students will need to supply is: Safety boots (steel capped, ankle height) Safety pants <br>Work shirt (waist length jacket if cold) Safety glasses Ear protection <br>Hat for sun protection <br>Sunscreen (if exposed to sunlight) <br>Safety gloves (if handling building materials) Notepad & Pen <br>The total cost of these items is between $250 - $300 <br>If additional safety equipment is required, it will be supplied by the Institute.
