Course Overview

The <strong>SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery</strong> develops the practical cookery skills and industry knowledge required to work professionally in commercial kitchens and the hospitality industry.<p>Through practical and classroom-based learning in Holmesglen's commercial training kitchens, you'll develop skills in food preparation and cookery, including <strong>preparing vegetarian and vegan dishes</strong> and meeting <strong>special dietary requirements</strong>. The course also includes a <strong>five-week practical placement</strong> during the fourth term, providing an opportunity to apply your skills in a workplace environment.</p> <p><p>On completion, you'll be prepared for opportunities in a range of hospitality and food service settings, including <strong>restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs, cafés and coffee shops</strong>.</p>

Entry Requirements

1. Good passes at Year 12 or the overseas equivalent. <p>2. English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. This course consists of 25 units: 20 core units and 5 elective units. The five electives include 3 units from Group A or Group B and 2 units from Group A, Group B or Group C. Electives are selected by Holmesglen in consultation with industry and must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.<p><strong>Full-time on-campus delivery</strong><br>• 12 months – 2 semesters of 18 weeks each <br>• 3 days per week, face-to-face <br>• Classes are held at various times throughout the week <p><strong>Part-time on-campus delivery</strong><br>• 18 months – 3 semesters of 18 weeks each <br>• 2 days per week, face-to-face <br>• Friday, 5.00 pm – 9.30 pm <br>• Saturday, 8.00 am – 4.00 pm <br>• International students cannot study part-time<p><strong>Dual qualification option</strong><br>Learners may also complete units from the SIT31021 Certificate III in Patisserie (Bridging Program) while studying the SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, providing a pathway to achieve dual qualifications in Commercial Cookery and Patisserie.
