Students will work in laboratories, a community apartment, and a simulated hospital environment to develop real-world skills.<p>With a focus on practical training, students gain industry-specific knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, infection control, workplace safety, communication, and working with diverse clients. Practical skills include patient movement, taking clinical measurements, and first aid.<p>Holmesglen’s supportive environment ensures students receive guidance from experienced teachers, helping them succeed academically and build confidence in their skills. Assessments involve teamwork and physical interaction with peers, supported by strict health protocols, including enhanced cleaning, PPE, and COVID-safe training.<p>This course is part of the VET Delivered to Secondary Students program and must be completed as part of a VCE or VCAL program.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in this course, you must be a VCE or VCE VM student. To determine your suitability, you will be required to complete course-specific, contextualised questions assessing your literacy and numeracy skills. This evaluation helps ensure the course is the right fit for you.
Students must have the: <br>interpersonal skills to interact with the public / clients / patients / superiors and other staff<br>physical ability to attend to clients / patients in a hospital, rehabilitation or community health setting<br>fine motor skills and physical dexterity required to assemble pieces of equipment, such as crutches<br>strength needed to move equipment such as a trolley, wheelchair or rehabilitation equipment.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training.
