Entry Requirements

Learners must be aged at least 18 at course commencement.<p>Have successfully completed one of the following qualifications (or equivalent):<br>• HLT31812 Certificate III in Dental Assisting<br>• HLT35015 Certificate III in Dental Assisting<br>• HLT35021 Certificate III in Dental Assisting
Piror to enrolment or commencing training, you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment and attend a face-to-face pre-training interview. The interview includes contextualised questions related to the role of a dental assistant. Together, the LLN results and interview help determine your suitability for the course and identify any learning support needs. A minimum of ACSF Level 3 in literacy and numeracy is required to interpret technical documentation, operate radiographic equipment, and accurately record diagnostic results.
<strong>Workplace Requirements</strong><br>To meet the practical assessment requirements of this course, you must be employed in or have access to a dental clinic. This workplace access is essential for performing radiographic tasks under supervision and for completing all assessment activities across the course units.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. <strong>Classes:</strong> Face-to-face, 1 day per week for 34 weeks<p><strong>Session length:</strong> Approximately 7 hours (including breaks)<p>The course comprises 10 units of competency, designed to provide learners with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to perform dental radiography safely and effectively. The weekly schedule promotes progressive learning, allowing learners to consolidate their understanding between sessions and engage in self-directed study.
