The SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services VDSS (VET Delivered to Secondary Schools) gives secondary school students the opportunity to develop practical skills across a range of beauty services, including makeup, tanning, manicure and pedicure, waxing, lash and brow services, and eyelash extensions.<p><p>You'll also build client consultation and customer service skills while learning how beauty services are delivered safely and professionally. Completed part time over two years, this qualification provides a foundation for further study or entry-level opportunities in the beauty industry while you continue your secondary school education.</p>

Studying the Certificate III in Beauty Services at Holmesglen

Study at Holmesglen's <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/about-us/campuses/moorabbin">Moorabbin</a> or <a href="https://www.holmesglen.edu.au/about-us/campuses/glen-waverley">Glen Waverley campus</a>, where you'll train in beauty learning environments designed to reflect professional salon settings.<p>You'll work with beauty products, tools and equipment while practising treatments and developing the professional behaviours expected when working with clients. Experienced Holmesglen beauty teachers will guide you through demonstrations and practical activities as you build your technique, confidence and understanding of salon practices.<p>As a secondary school student, you'll also experience a TAFE learning environment while continuing your school studies, giving you an introduction to vocational education and what it's like to train for the beauty industry.

Entry Requirements

To enrol in the SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services VDSS, you must:<br>• Be a current secondary school student in Year 10, 11 or 12 <br>• Be enrolled in a VETDSS program <br>• Attend a school that has a VETDSS agreement with Holmesglen <p><strong>Digital skills</strong><br>You'll need basic computer and digital skills to complete course activities and assessments. This includes using Microsoft Word and Excel, internet search engines, the Holmesglen learning management system, and online resources to research industry-related information.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. The course is delivered over two years, with students attending one four-hour session per week. Classes combine practical and theoretical learning, with face-to-face training supported by online learning via Webex when required.<p><strong>Units of competency</strong><br>To achieve the qualification, you must successfully complete 18 units of competency: 14 core units and 4 elective units.<br>The four elective units are:<br>• HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid <br>• SHBBMUP008 – Apply Eyelash Extensions <br>• SHBBMUP010 – Design and Apply Make-up for Photography <br>• SHBBINF002 – Maintain Infection Control Standards <br>These electives extend your knowledge and skills in first aid, eyelash extensions, photographic makeup and infection control.

Assessment
