Studying the Certificate III in Beauty Services at Holmesglen

At Holmesglen, we focus on making sure you have a strong customer-service approach when consulting with clients, so you're ready to walk into a job at your future salon. The Certificate III in Beauty Services SHB30121 is a two-year program delivered one day a week on campus.<p>In the first year, students will complete make-up, spray tanning, e-file for nail services, manicures and pedicures as well as learn how to use salon software, conduct financial transactions, sell retail products and develop customer service skills.<p>First Aid is also completed in the first year. <p>In the second year, students build on their makeup skills and complete makeup for photography, eyelash extensions, waxing, eyelash lifting and tinting, eyebrow shaping and tinting & learn health and hygiene regulations.<p>This is a VET Delivered to Secondary Students (previously VETiS ) program and can only be completed as part of your VCE or VCE VM program.

Entry Requirements

There are no specified entry requirements.Students are required to be current school students and enrolled in the VETDSS program in either Year 10, 11 or 12 at one of the schools that Holmesglen has an agreement with.<p>Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you may be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan and identify any learning support needs.<p>Students are required to have basic computer skills, mainly to prepare Word and Excel documents, turn a computer on and off, use search engines such as Google, type documents, and access the Holmesglen learning management system and research topics relevant to industry information and sources.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. Timetable

Learners engage with Holmesglen one day per week for 3 hours throughout both years of the VDSS partial program. Each session combines practical and theoretical learning, with classes delivered face-to-face on campus and virtually via online platforms as required.<br>The full Certificate III in Beauty Services qualification requires 18 units—14 core and 4 elective. The VDSS partial program covers a selection of these units, focusing on practical skills essential for a beautician. Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

Outcomes

Qualification and Recognition

Students who successfully complete the 24 months of part-time VDSS study will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for the units completed as part of the SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services Partial Program. If students choose to complete the remaining units, they will be awarded the full SHB30121 Certificate III in Beauty Services qualification. This nationally recognised qualification certifies that graduates have the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to work confidently in the beauty industry.
