This hands-on sport coaching course builds skills in coaching, athlete management and strength and conditioning, with learning delivered through practical classes, simulated activities and industry-based experiences. Entry Requirements

• Be prepared for the academic, practical and physical demands of the course<br>• Have the physical capacity to participate in regular strength, conditioning and exercise-based training<br>• Be able to demonstrate, instruct and supervise physical training activities<br>• Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements, including correct Manual Handling practices<br>• Hold a current Working with Children Check, required for placement and industry-based learning<p>The qualification offers learners the opportunity to participate in up to 150 hours of structured practical placement, usually undertaken one day per week for around five hours across 30 weeks. Placement experiences enable students to apply classroom learning in supervised, real-world sport and fitness settings, supporting the development of confidence, industry readiness, and professional networks.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview. These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. To be awarded the SIS50321 Diploma of Sport (Coaching), students must successfully complete 14 units of competency, comprising 3 core units and 11 elective units.<p>The elective units have been carefully selected to support career pathways as high-performance coaches, athlete managers, and strength and conditioning coaches across a range of Australian sport industries. These units develop the skills and knowledge required to deliver coaching, training, management and administrative services in professional sporting environments.

Assessments are designed to provide learners with opportunities to demonstrate they have attained the required skills and knowledge using a range of practically based activities and tasks, as required by recognised standards.

Learners will be required to wear appropriate clothing and footwear and provide required documentation when undertaking practical activities.
