Holmesglen Institute is pleased to partner with The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) Golf Learning Hub to provide a range of educational programs with a golf industry perspective, including in Hospitality, Sports Turf Management and Travel/Tourism.

Several qualifications have been adapted to deliver the skills and knowledge required for work in the golf industry, including:

Holmesglen offers those looking for a career in golf a nationally recognised Diploma of Hospitality Management, with an additional golf industry focus.

Our hospitality courses are delivered at the Glen Waverley campus, home to the Zest training restaurant, and cookery, and patisserie kitchens. This allows hospitality students to practise dealing with real customers and work closely with cookery students under the watchful eye of our experienced trainers.

This practical program equips learners with front-of-house skills and the training required for management roles in a range of hospitality businesses, from cafes, fine-dining restaurants, five-star hotels and golf club venues.

Holmesglen offers those interested in a career in the golf industry a nationally recognised Diploma in Sports Turf Management.

Participants will learn skills in the establishment and maintenance of recreational turf, the preparation of sports playing surfaces and the management of recreational and sports turf facilities – especially golfing greens.

The course is suitable for people looking for senior or specialist turf management roles.

Also, students will learn how to provide advice on turf irrigation, pest and disease control, and management practices.

Additional golf industry training will prepare students for a successful career in the field.

This course is offered at our Glen Waverley campus, and upon completion, graduates will be well-positioned to find leadership and management roles across a wide range of professional areas, including restaurants, hotels, function centres, accommodation venues, cruised liners, inventory and logistics gaming venues, clubs, pubs, cafes, aged and health.

The Bachelor of Sports Business at Holmesglen provides entry into the golf industry and avenues to management levels in professional and community sports sectors.

You will gain significant industry experience through a 228-hour internship with one of our leading sports organisation partners in the third year of the degree.

This course is offered at our Chadstone campus, and upon completion, graduates are supported with a seamless transition into industry employment. Alternatively, you can also pursue relevant masters or other post-graduate qualifications.

Our course is the perfect match for someone seeking a career that aspires to work in a dynamic industry, with opportunities to see the world and discover how to provide impressive tourism products and exceptional customer service.

This course is delivered remotely in a virtual classroom environment, enabling students to learn from home.

Students will gain the knowledge and skills to work in travel agencies, and for tour wholesalers, tour operators, inbound tour operators, and visitor information centres.

Additional golf industry training will also further prepare participants for a successful career in the travel and tourism sector.
