Entry Requirements

Minimum 18 years old. As per the AMEP Service Providers Guide youths under the age of 18 are expected to enrol in school, in line with the compulsory school age legislative requirements of their respective state or territory, regardless of whether they meet AMEP eligibility requirements.
Prior to enrolment or commencement of training you will be required to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment and a pre-training interview.<br>These will assist with determining your suitability to the course, verify your training plan, and identify any learning support needs.

Recognition of prior learning

You may be able to reduce the number of units to be studied in your chosen course by measuring skills acquired through work, life experiences or qualifications obtained from formal studies or training. AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued by another registered training organisation will be recognised by Holmesglen. Read more about Recognition of Prior Learning, Credits and Advanced Standing.

Course Structure

Timetable

To be eligible for the 22638VIC Certificate I in EAL (Access) award, learners must complete a total of 8 units, including:<p> • 1 Core unit<br> • 1 Speaking and Listening elective unit<br> • 1 Reading and Writing elective unit<br> • 2 language skills elective units (not previously completed) from:<br> o This qualification<br> o The Course in EAL<br> o Certificate II qualifications in this EAL Framework. <br> • 3 General Electives, which can be selected from:<br> o General Electives listed in this qualification<br> o General Electives listed in the Certificate II qualifications in this EAL Framework<br> o Units/modules initially packaged in AQF level 1 and 2 qualifications in other accredited courses and/or endorsed training packages.<p>If the full course is not completed, a VET Statement of Attainment will be issued for each successfully completed unit.
