Hin Long (Jeremy) Poon
VCE VM (Senior Program) Year 12
Jeremy has achieved excellence in his VCE VM program and demonstrated strong competence in his industry skills, particularly in engineering. He is currently awaiting confirmation of a potential apprenticeship with Nuline Charter, where he hopes to pursue his long-held ambition of becoming a diesel mechanic, working on buses—something he is truly passionate about.
Throughout his time in the program, Jeremy has taken great pride in building stronger connections with his community by developing a deeper understanding of local issues.
Despite facing adversity, Jeremy has shown remarkable courage and resilience, consistently producing work of the highest standard. He has a clear vision for his future and is determined to follow the pathway he has set for himself.
Kira McCloskey
VCE VM (Senior Program) Year 12
Kira began her journey as a shy Year 10 student but has grown into a confident young woman with the courage to take on new challenges. She successfully completed her Year 12 VCE VM with determination and maturity. In her own words, Kira described arriving at Holmesglen with an open mind, ready for a fresh start.
Kira not only developed personally and academically during her studies, but excelled in industry classes, which included Hospitality, Fabrication and Welding, Tiling, Engineering, Small Business, and Sports Coaching. Her efforts were recognised with a Vocational College Excellence Award in March this year.
Now enrolled in Early Childhood Learning for 2025, Kira is looking ahead to a promising career. Her resilience, growth, and commitment to success make her a standout student and a true inspiration.
Sebastian Kastrup
VCE VM (Senior Program) Year 12
Sebastian made a conscious decision to rebuild his academic foundation and demonstrated great effort and self-discipline to succeed. He overcame significant challenges on his educational journey, including a period of disengagement from school.
Despite facing many learning obstacles along the way, Sebastian remained adaptable and persistent, choosing to find strategies that worked for him. This highlights his adaptability and drive to succeed. In addition to his academic growth, Sebastian has made remarkable progress in building his confidence in public speaking.
His journey has also inspired him to support his peers; he often acts as an informal mentor, offering guidance and empathy to students facing similar challenges. His resilience and generosity have made him a valued and respected member of the school community.
